AVII was the second conference staged by the people at the Alternative View website, specifically Ian Crane. It’s part of a growing movement of what could loosely be called ‘truth and freedom’ events which are now taking place throughout the UK with increasing frequency. Some are mainly political, some spiritual with most being a mixture of both. The increase in the frequency of such events reflects the gathering awakening which is taking place amongst the peoples of the world, albeit at starkly differing speeds. AVII places itself at the heart of this progressive activism with a wide range of speakers offering political, historical and spiritual perspectives on the disturbing direction in which humanity is being driven.
The Alternative View’s ethos is perhaps best summed up in its mission statement:
To advance awareness and facilitate discussion of Political, Scientific and Spiritual alternatives without constraint by Consensus Reality and/or Received Wisdom.
Mankind is at a fork in the road. Ahead, potentially, is an Orwellian nightmare, or an opportunity to participate in creating a new beginning for our world.
There is a co-ordinated effort by our world leaders (elected and unelected), with the willing help of a corporate controlled mass media, to use manufactured global crises to create what they term a ‘New World Order’. You’ve heard that term in the media, indeed Gordon Brown uses the phrase with alarming regularity, but what does it mean? Simply this: A global super state, controlled by a World Government, policed by a World Army, with a single World Currency… and a single world Religion!
There is, however, an Alternative View. An alternative which will be mapped out at ‘AVII’, after we have shown our delegates – through well researched evidence and facts – what is really going on around us.
The Alternative View is not just an event, it’s a Community. Our aim is to facilitate a community of shared values which supports, nurtures and encourages an alternative sustainable existence. An existence that does not differentiate between race or creed but which is founded upon mutual respect, understanding and support.
If you are visiting this website, you probably already know that something is not quite right in how events are being portrayed. This conference is all-encompassing; only by joining us will you see the entire ‘Big Picture’ unfolding in front of you.
This year’s Alternative View was held at the Thistle Hotel at Heathrow Airport, an easily accessible venue well suited for conferences. Several hundred delegates, many from outside the UK, attended from May 29-31 to hear fourteen speakers deliver talks on a wide range of subjects. The event also boasted a number of workshops, evening entertainment and a market area selling books, DVDs and various other items related to alternative ways of living and viewing the world.
This post will cover the talk given on Friday May 29 and some of those on Saturday May 30. Look out for further instalments which will summarise the remainder of the event.

Dr Leonard Horowitz was first up and the sole speaker for Friday as it was just an evening event. Horowitz is perhaps best known for the sleeper publication Emerging Viruses: Aids & Ebola – Nature, Accident or Intentional? which emerged in 1996. Although it received little attention at the time, it has gone on to be highly influential. He has been at the forefront of health consciousness for nearly 30 years and is famous for indicting the Anglo-American military/medical/petrochemical/pharmaceutical cartel for destroying both us and the environment, and for exposing governors and governments for malfeasance, misdirection and suppression of natural curative medicine and science. Entitled Emerging Viruses, Death in the Air, Globalism, Terrorism & Toxic Warfare, his talk documented the failure of public health policies in dealing with the onslaught of chemical, biological and radiological agents that are waging a war of attrition against humanity.
Horowitz is an engaging and inspiring speaker but – as with all information whether mainstream or alternative – it’s still incumbent upon us to satisfy ourselves regarding the truth or otherwise of the claims being made. Indeed, it’s a general lack of such due diligence which allows the mainstream media to peddle its distorted view of the world. Without exception, listening to AVII’s line-up of speakers could not have been further from enduring the platitudes and weasel words of some droning, dried up old politician or beady-eyed public official. If it feels right in the heart but wrong in the head, chances are the head is wrong, and Horowitz comes across as all heart.

Andy Thomas - a leading researcher into unexplained mysteries and a campaigner for liberty and truth issues – opened proceedings on Saturday with a talk entitled The Era of Turmoil and the Energy of Hope which could almost have come from one of Barack Obama’s speech writers. Obama will be glad that it didn’t, however, as Thomas highlights how little has changed since America’s new leader swept to power, and then focuses on how the current hope for change can be tapped into positively. Obama’s great message of ‘hope’ is keeping desperate people looking to the future for salvation, but if things don’t begin to change now, the future may be a much darker place.

A respected journalist and former BBC reporter, Tony Gosling presented a talk entitled The New World Order (Thanks to a Compliant Media) which asked when is what we see in the news a genuine event, and when is it a Public Relations exercise? He highlights how media outlets which appear to represent different viewpoints are in fact controlled by a small and shrinking number of moguls and are used to build an artificial consensus for an extremely sinister purpose. Most importantly, he examines how this ‘Stalinisation’ of the media affects the way we lead our lives and how we can stay sane in such an apparently schizophrenic, even psychotic world of public discourse. The answer comes through understanding that much of what we see and hear in contemporary media is nothing more than an elaborate illusion.
